Kids Packaging Research- Secondary Research

In many kids packaging, they use bright and bold colours to attract younger people, as they stand out, and look a lot more interesting than other packaging. They also use things like cartoon characters like animals to allow kids to be able to associate that packaging to that brand, without them even knowing. Its shown that kids will have more interest in a food item, if it has interesting packaging, and this works for healthy food, as if it looks better than a more unhealthy alternative, they will almost always choose the healthy food, just because it has better packaging.
One example of healthy food packaging are the Innocent Smoothies, who not only use little cartoon characters on the front of the packaging, but they also have different activities on the back of the packaging that the kids can use. This attracts kids attention as it isn't just normal, boring packaging, and you can actually keep the package for something after you have used it. I like this packaging as the colours contrast well with each other, as they are so bright, but the use of a white background means its not too much to look at. This also allows you to separate the packaging from others, meaning you can distinguish the brand easily.

Another example of packaging is from the German company 'Mogli' who use the characters for their fruit drink that are from Disneys 'The Jungle Book' to help promote the packaging. They also use bright colours, but keep the same theme, so it is easily recognisable, for both kids and adults, which means they are easy to find in stores. They also have activities, facts and jokes printed on the back of the packaging, which makes kids want to look at the packaging and allows them to become even more curious of what it all says. I also like this packaging as they stick to similar colours, whilst using different pictures, so they all look like they are part of the same packaging, without one being out of place.

Warning Signs-
On the back of many of the kids packaging, there are signs on the back to warn everyone what the contents are. This includes nut warnings for people who have nut allergies, glucose warnings, or warnings just to tell you where the product was made, for example, it was made in Britain which is shown by the British flag.
They also have warnings where it will say '100% fruit' or '100% beef' to let you know that there are no other secret ingredients mixed into the product that you don't know about, as some people could be allergic to certain things, so without these there is no way of stopping people from getting allergic reactions to the food.
