Painting With Light

Light trails are long exposure shots that take place around moving sources of light. They can create many different images and you can use different techniques to create unique images. Here are some of my creations below.

To do this you set your camera to a low ISO and then once you have focused your camera flip your lens to M for manual focus. Set your camera to f16 in the aperture priority setting to give a deep depth of field, and then you can experiment with different lights to get different looks.

With light trails you can just create images with many types of lights, or you can use people to act as shadows, or you can use them as part of the picture. Other things used in light trail pictures most commonly are car headlights to help a normal picture stand out. To get the best outcome, using a tripod will help you keep you camera steady and have it at the right height.
